AUDIO VISUAL TIPS

IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO READ THIS ENTIRE DOCUMENT: Audio-visual materials enhance your presentation and add emphasis to important points. The following guidelines may help your develop your presentation for the best results. Please note that each room will have the following equipment available for your use:

  • An overhead projector and screen;
  • A flipchart and easel with pens.

IMPORTANT: Any additional Audio Visual equipment (e.g. a slide projector, TV/VCR, LCD panel, microphone) must be provided by the presenter, or may be ordered at the presenter's expense through the conference host facility. For LCD panel, please contact the ICDC Equipment Chair, via email at icdc-equipment@careerccc.com

Please advise us if you will need additional time to set up your equipment and do a "tech" check. For other A/V equipment, contact the conference Equipment Chair at icdc-equipment@careerccc.com. If you plan to make use of a computer monitor or LCD projector, please also advise the program chair so that your workshop can be located in an appropriate room.

Guidelines for 35mm slides (or computer displays):

  • Keep slides/screens simple limit each slide to one topic or idea.
  • Limit each message to fewer than seven lines with no more than seven words per line.
  • Two or more simple slides are better than one complicated slide.
  • Use horizontal slides without borders. Use 2" x 2" slides in plastic or glass mounts.
  • Light lettering on a dark background is the most legible in a large-group setting. Your slides should be legible when held at arm's length in front of a bright background.
  • Computer screens should be tested in advance and under similar conditions, if possible.
  • Use a font size of at least 48 points. Sans serif fonts are most legible from a distance.

Guidelines for overhead transparency slides:

Follow the guides above for 35 mm slides except use dark lettering on a light background.
